Saskatchewan

Alaska
The state of Alaska borders British Columbia and the Yukon in Canada and is the 49th state to join the United States of America. Endless opportunities abound for exploring the great outdoors and experiencing Alaska Native culture.  Camping is second nature here with both private and state campgrounds dotted across the state.

Parks Canada has more than 10,000 campsites at its 40 National Parks across Canada.  Most campsites can be reserved in advance and we strongly recommend that you do so as campsites in the most popular destinations sell out months in advance.  Some locations offer a limited number of campsites on a first-come-first-serve basis throughout the year.  Check with the location you want to visit to see if this option is available at that park.  Note that many Parks Canada campgrounds have overflow parking lots where Guests can also stay overnight.  Freedom camping is not permitted in any national park.

Freedom Camping
Guests are welcome to stay in larger grocery store parking lots such as Walmart (where permitted) or even semi-truck stops.  Ensure there is no sign indicating "no overnight parking" and get verified permission to stay overnight with the operator/owner/manager of the property.

Freedom camping may be permitted on public land across Canada.  Freedom camping however is never permitted within a National or Provincial Park.

Be respectful of the environment when you choose to freedom camp.  Take all your rubbish with you and leave only your footprints.
